Happy rainy day, my sweet tarts!
Today’s blog post is a little on the heavy side, but I promise there will be fun later on!
As the title suggests, today I am talking DNFs: Did not finish.
Now, unlike a lot of people, the reason I cannot finish a book sometimes is NOT because I didn’t get into the story.
Quite the opposite, actually.
I mentioned in an earlier post about my accident, nearly 4 years ago.
That stupid accident is the reason for this.
After a few concussions, some seizures, followed by who knows WHAT kind of head trauma I suffered that day, my mind does not function normally.
No, I am saying this for pity, merely the truth about why my writing is so..odd, at times.
It’s the way my mind processes everything now, which makes it near on impossible to try and be like other bloggers.
Sometimes, I DNF because the author’s writing, no matter how subtle, changes enough my mind picks up on it.
Then, it automatically changes the words around, frustrating to the point of barely being able to read.
It can be something as silly as going from using “Me” to “I”, or using short sentences, rather than the previously long, descriptive ones.
Small, silly issues most people wouldn’t notice, but catches my eye and winds up giving me a migraine.
Whenever I DNF, which I hope will not be often, I will explain WHY in the post, but still encourage you to check said book out.
Knock on wood, there won’t be many DNFs in my future.
Truly enjoy books too much for that!
On that note, I bid you adieu, my twisted crullers.
There is a damp ferret requiring my attention, some sisters to cook breakfast with and a thoroughly dreary day to be enjoyed.
Two books reviews and a cover post to come!
