Soul of Flame..Still indie?

Published January 10, 2014 by Book Junkette

Hello my delectable flans!

As stated in the earlier post, the next book in the Imdalind series, by the wonderful, and frankly pretty frickin’ incredible, Rebecca Ethington, is coming out IN FEBRUARY!! On the 17th! :O!!!

WOOOOOO!!! *Overly dramatic puppet arm flails.*

Who’s with me in the happies?!?!

Now, anyone who’s fans/friends/stalkers of Rebecca, KNOWS she put off the release of Soul of Flame last year, because she was approached by publishers for the rights of the Imdalind series.

Awesome sauce much?!

Many people, myself included, supported her while she had all this going on. Honestly, can you BLAME HER?!

A trad publisher, instead of being indie!

After she weighed the pros and cons, it was decided she’d stay indie..for NOW.

So today’s BIG NEWS is Soul of Flame’s RELEASE DATE!!!!

Sadly, that is NOT what this current post is about.

For the past couple of weeks, Rebecca has been posting, tweeting, FBing about her BIG news.

Obvi, we now know what that is.

Some people are apparently let down by this.

Why? It makes no sense to me.

Think about it, from ALL points of view.

HAD Rebecca gone with a trad publisher, the release could have been pushed back ever further, prices raised, content added, all in the name of SALES.

Let’s face it: plenty of retailers and publishers are only in it for the money, not the authors.

Why make a fuss, when in a few short weeks, Soul of Flame will be out, Dawn of Ash (Imdalind series, Book 5!) AND Broken Fragments (Glass series, Book 2!) will be out this year as well?!

Rebecca writes for LOVE, not SALES. She writes because it’s her PASSION.

No, I am not prejudiced. I am friends/fans of many authors, indie and trad, PA to an indie author, sounding board to quite a few trad authors, and am able to see behind the curtain, as it were, on all aspects of publishing.

DO what you love, WRITE what you love and never lose your HEART.

Don’t agree?

It’s quite simple to unfollow/unfriend someone, rather than be happy they chose to follow the path that let them stay true to themselves.

Believe in yourselves, my darlings.

Soul of Flame release date!!

Author Rebecca Ethington has some big news to share about her Imdalind series! Check out the video below where Rebecca Ethington shares a special message. 🙂

About Soul of Flame…

Book Four in the Imdalind Series, expected release February 2014.

The Time for the final battle has come. Edmund’s armies have surrounded the Rioseco Abbey, trapping the few survivors inside. The sight that Ilyan was given a thousand years ago is about to come to pass. If only Joclyn was able to fight. Joclyn is tormented by the hallucinations that Cail’s mind has left her with, her magic an uncontrollable torrent that even Ilyan cannot control. Her moments of lucidity are broken by fears of dripping pipes and bleeding walls, and a desire to kill Ryland that she is having trouble trying to ignore. The sight has shown her power, shown her success, but it has also shown her death – The end of her life something she is not quite willing to give up on yet. Even past her death, the sight has shown her love, and that love may be the only key to her sanity, to her strength, and to Edmund’s death. That love may stand in her way, and a single choice may tip the scales and secure their future, or destroy their fate.

Release Date: February 17th 2014

““You deserve to die!” The tanned skin of his face slowly faded to white before the red of his lips painted blue. He clawed at his neck as an invisible force squeezed the life out of him. I only smiled as I watched him fight it, knowing it was pointless, knowing I wouldn’t let him get away.

Why my latest reviews took awhile.

Published January 9, 2014 by Book Junkette

Evening, my cream custards!

Tonight, just want to explain, if I can, why my reviews for Kiss of Fire and Eyes of Ember took so long.

As mentioned in an earlier post, the way my mind works is not traditional, nor normal.

Not by a long shot.

Primarily, the issues that kept cropping up when I tried to write the reviews, are as follows.

Please, bear with me.

Joclyn and Ryland kept reminding me of Romeo and myself.

Romeo is what I will always refer to my other half as.

Together since we were kids, we’ve endured plenty: accidents, loss, near misses.

So many times over the years, we’ve gone for months without talking, for various reasons.

Life, family, jobs.

Other people..

Between the two of us, we’ve had more than a few near death experiences.

No, I am not exaggerating.

My most current, and equally worse one, was when I was hit in 2009.

Romeo, at the beach in 2010, when a tide nearly dragged him to sea.

It’s scary, when we talk, learn these things, realise how close we’ve come to losing one another.

Since the day we met, there was never any doubt we would be together.

15 years later, we still are and very much in love.

I know plenty of people don’t believe in “insta-love” or love at first sight, but for us, it was.

When you find someone who speaks to your heart, there is no denying it.

Joclyn and Ryland make my heart ache, for this reason.

Through some of the worst, Ryland wanted nothing more than to be with Joclyn.

To love, protect, care for her.

Because she was HIS other half.

It’s books like this, that tug at my heart strings, the reason why I love them so much.

That is all, my darlings.

I have a delicious new book to get back to!

Sleep sweet.

Eyes of Ember review

Published January 9, 2014 by Book Junkette

Evening, my cherry cheesecakes!

Hope everyone is staying warm!

I’m burrowed under a blanket, watching the US Shameless, as I write this.

Oh, how do I love Autumn!

This is the second part of the reviews, woo!

Eyes of Ember picks up a couple days after the end of Kiss of Fire.

Oh, how my heart hurt.

Poor Joclyn!

Poor Ryland!

It made me cry a little, youngest sister bawled while reading this one.

Well, we both cried during the end of Kiss of Fire.

Eyes of Amber was slightly worse.

Great book, just tears at your heart and emotions.

Joclyn is denied her beloved Ryland, the other half of herself, and it slowly eats away at her.

Among other things, sweet girl.

Who knew the loss of her true love, the one she’s meant for, would nearly cost her everything???

Including her life?!

Much as I do not care for Ilyan, he does try, to the best of his ability, to keep Joclyn going.

Not an easy feat, especially with her stubbornness.

Mostly because it seems, at times, as if he’s trying to replace Ryland in her heart.

That’s how I felt to me, because I understand being bonded to someone so completely.

I’m biased..Sue me!

From a small studio, where Ilyan attempts to teach Joclyn how to defend herself, to a teensy tiny attic room, all the way to the furthest reaches of the world..

Ryland tracks Joclyn, but it is not OUR Ryland..

As if we needed another reason to cry, beat a pillow..

Eyes of Ember is another great read from Rebecca Ethington, but I leave you with some advice!

Keep tissues handy.
NEVER underestimate the power of true love.
No matter the cost, never stop hoping.

And above all else..

Leave reviews!

Remember: authors are only able to bring us such wonderous worlds because of reviews!

Well, reviews and how well their books do.

Coming soon: Scorched Treachery!

Kiss of Fire review!

Published January 9, 2014 by Book Junkette

Evening, my sweet cakes!

As promised, here is one of two reviews, by a very sweet author, Rebecca Ethington.

Now, Rebecca is an incredible author, and I ❤ her books with a passion.

How could I not?!

Love, honour, sacrifice, friendship!

Everything you could want in a great book, and more!

Joclyn Despain.

Poor sweet Joclyn..

We first meet her on her 5th birthday, right before her life changes forever..

Years later, Joclyn’s a reclusive teenager with one friend: Ryland LaRue.

Since she was 5, Ryland is the only one who’s accepted Joclyn as she is, never thought her weird and stood up for her, even to the school bullies.

Despite going to a different, private school.

How sweet and endearing is that?!

Makes my heart melt just thinking about it.

We all need a guy like that in our lives..

Things change when Wyn, fellow oddball, arrives at the school, and quickly latches onto Joclyn.

Wyn has a stuffy older brother, Ilyan.

Creepy McStalker much??

From there..So. Much. Heartache.

Too much!

My heart broke at times, and yes, I did cry.

Go forth, my darlings, and read up the pretty that is Kiss of Fire!

xx Tara
