Through Glass ARC review

Published September 25, 2013 by Book Junkette

Good afternoon, my luscious licorices!!

Today, I am incredibly excited but a little spooked!!

Recently, I got an ARC from the ever wonderful Rebecca Ethington, for her newest book, Through Glass.

Oh, how I loves this book!

Rebecca is a great writer, sweet lady and one of many indie authors I am lucky enough to call a friend. ❤

Being a blogger has it perks, I’ve meet new people: bloggers, reviews, authors!

Through Glass..

Wow. Just..wow.

Like any rational person, I was uber excited when Rebecca started posting teasers for this book on her fan page.

Even kept all the pictures!! Hehe.

Sorry for any typos I may miss, hands are freezing cold.

I love the way Through Glass starts, with Alexis avoiding homework, daydreaming about the smell of lilacs..and her crush!

Cue the sexy, boy next door please!

Cohen..

Artist.

Painter.

Sexy to all get out.

Everything I wish my next door neighbours were!!

Mmm. Cohen..

Ahem. Sorry.

Obviously need a Romeo fix.

Just as Cohen comes to realise Alexis is meant for him..

That he can’t run anymore..

They share a sweet, tender kiss..

That honestly left me more than a little flustered. >.>

The sky goes black.

They come down.

The Ulama..

Separated by 15 feet, the dangers of an outside world..

Our young sweethearts have each other..through glass..

Oh, the sorrow and agony I felt, tore at my heart.

Imagine seeing the one you love.

Never being able to touch.

To hug.

To kiss..

Years pass in this fashion; always yearning.

Always longing.

For such simple contact.

Until one day..

Every wish comes true!

Oh, my dears, if only life were that sweetly easy.

Our dear, brave Cohen is taken from Alexis.

Left truly alone in the world, no real hope.
With nothing else..

She walks.

Runs.

Fights for her very life.

Even against someone that once, was so very close to her.

Alas! Fear not, my cupcakes.

All hope is not lost for our young heroine.

Just before her journey’s end, Alexis finds someone she thought gone forever.

Sadly, not Cohen.

No, not him.

Not yet..

We must keep our fingers crossed for Alexis, Cohen and any others that have survived this bleak, black world.

Because we must remember..

Stay in the light..

Reviews to come on the first 2 books!

Been a busy girl; so many books, so little battery life

So excited I am, I can hardly contain myself at times! *Dramatic faints*

Sorry..low blood sugar.

Now, Rebecca’s book was supposed to go live yesterday, but alas!

All was not right in the world of Amazon!!

So a day late, Through Glass is for sale, at only 99c!!

Psst! Click the picture!!

This is a short post, many things to do in my world!

Happily, my cream puffs, I leave you with various teasers and pretties Rebecca created for us, and one simple request.

Title: Trusting You

By: L.P. Dover
Cover Design: Eden Crane Designs
Release Date: October 2013

Blurb

I trust you …

These are the three words that Melissa Ashford wishes she could say to someone; to the one person she can fully give herself to and not worry about being betrayed. Being twenty-eight years old and divorced from a cheating ex-husband, Melissa enjoys her freedom until one night she finds herself indulging in a one night stand that changes everything.

There’s something about the alluring Brett Walker that has Melissa feeling things she’s never had with any other man; feelings that not only scare her, but push her past her limits. Just when she begins to open her soul to this new love their bond is put to the test when jealousies from the past try to break them apart.

It’s not only Melissa’s trust that’s put on the line, but Brett’s as well. Will their love be strong enough to get them through the lies? Will Melissa finally be able to say those three words she’s been dying to say?

His lazy grin grew wider. “I wondered if I’d ever see you again,” he murmured in his low, sexy voice.

I scoffed and tried to step back, but he moved forward, closing the space. Placing my hands on my hips, I said, “Yeah, I bet. Someone like you probably has a different woman every night. I’m pretty sure you don’t even remember my name.” What’s bad is that I remembered his. I didn’t want to remember it, but I did; it was Brett Walker and he was twenty-eight years old, just like me.

Smirking, he narrowed his eyes. “I could say the same for you. You were the one who left me, remember? Imagine my surprise when I woke up and your side of the bed was cold. You didn’t even say good-bye … Melissa. I must say it was a first for me.”

Eventual DNFs

Published September 15, 2013 by Book Junkette

Happy rainy day, my sweet tarts!

Today’s blog post is a little on the heavy side, but I promise there will be fun later on!

As the title suggests, today I am talking DNFs: Did not finish.

Now, unlike a lot of people, the reason I cannot finish a book sometimes is NOT because I didn’t get into the story.

Quite the opposite, actually.

I mentioned in an earlier post about my accident, nearly 4 years ago.

That stupid accident is the reason for this.

After a few concussions, some seizures, followed by who knows WHAT kind of head trauma I suffered that day, my mind does not function normally.

No, I am saying this for pity, merely the truth about why my writing is so..odd, at times.

It’s the way my mind processes everything now, which makes it near on impossible to try and be like other bloggers.

Sometimes, I DNF because the author’s writing, no matter how subtle, changes enough my mind picks up on it.

Then, it automatically changes the words around, frustrating to the point of barely being able to read.

It can be something as silly as going from using “Me” to “I”, or using short sentences, rather than the previously long, descriptive ones.

Small, silly issues most people wouldn’t notice, but catches my eye and winds up giving me a migraine.

Whenever I DNF, which I hope will not be often, I will explain WHY in the post, but still encourage you to check said book out.

Knock on wood, there won’t be many DNFs in my future.

Truly enjoy books too much for that!

On that note, I bid you adieu, my twisted crullers.

There is a damp ferret requiring my attention, some sisters to cook breakfast with and a thoroughly dreary day to be enjoyed.

Two books reviews and a cover post to come!
